The group that exercised and dieted lost more fat than the
groups that either dieted or exercised alone. The group that
exercised gained the most muscle mass and interestingly, lost
more body fat as compared to the diet group, although weight
loss was marginally less. This study also demonstrates that exercise
can maintain (and increase) lean mass while dieting.
