Walt Thompson, Ph.D., FACSM, FAACVPR, is the Director, Center for Sports Medicine, Science & Technology at Georgia State University (Atlanta, Georgia). He is also a full professor in both the Department of Kinesiology and Health and the Department of Nutrition at Georgia State University. Dr. Thompson is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, a Fellow of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education and Recreation Research Consortium, a Fellow of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and a Fellow of the Southern Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the American College of Sports Medicine Committee on Certification and Education.
