confused about this 1rm algorithm

Hey this 1rm calculator on exrx confuses the hell out of me, check these example numbers 127 x 3 = 134 max then according to the box on the right, 127 is 95% 1rm but according to the bottom box, you should hit 95% for 2 reps Doesn't this seem contradictory? If I hit 127 for 3, either 127 is not 95% ...

Re: What weight did your grip first fail (deadlift)

arms are extended of course.... try it for yourself right now put your arm out infront of you overhand then rotate to underhand. The elbow moves in. it's bumping into my leg because of that.

Re: What weight did your grip first fail (deadlift)

This is hard to picture. A video would make this easier to understand. [/color] I don't have a video right now, I'll try to explain better. My arms rub my knees when I deadlift, so there's no space there. That's what I've found most comfortable. if i rotate to an underhand grip the elbow rotates in...

What weight did your grip first fail (deadlift)

Hi I'm a beginner to powerlifting and I still use a double overhand grip, because it's not failed me yet. I'm wary of a bicep tear and also, when I use under/over even if my hands are in the exact same spot, the elbow of my underhook hand is further in than it would be if I was using an overhand gri...

I did 5x5 last year for a few months but yeah I usually go back to the higher rep ranges. Thanks for all the pointers, I'll check out the routines you mentioned.

Re: westside routine questions

Would you tell us your age, height and weight and your (calc.) 1RM in Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Press and Press? And perhaps a bit about your training until now? It would help to recommend an alternative... I'm 32, 6'0, 195lb BF about 12-14% 1rm bench - 265 deadlift - 345 squat - 270 My squat sucks....

Re: westside routine questions

I think the problem is that out of the 4 programs listed, you chose the most advanced. Start with the linear programming one (or a beginner program from the list in our stickies) and then the 5-3-1. Those should last for a year or so. Westside is more a powerlifting specialty program that you could...

Re: westside routine questions

It still gives me an error when I try to post the link...

But like I said, it's from this site, "exrx westside powerlifting template."
If you search the part in quotations its the first hit on google.

westside routine questions

Hi this is my first time following a powerlifting routine, I've been training bodybuilding style for a few years, sorry if this is the wrong board. I'm trying to follow the sample westside routine from this site. For the maximum effort day you're supposed to do 9-12 sets of your big lift at 3 reps b...
