You guys know very well that even a lot of us who think this SW is ridiculous will still buy one just for the lulz. It's not the worst thing in the world. I mean, say you are finishing your shoulder workout with some lateral raises, and while you hold it up there to isometrically work out your middl...

Can we propose, present or put together new exercise guides?

For example, it is possible to do knee extensions and knee curls with a freeweight instead of a machine, by putting a dumbbell between your shoes. There are not currently guides for this and I would like to help inform people of them. http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/ThighWt.html Is there a way we c...

Which part of the shoulder is working here?

I understand how the anterior deltoid works to flex the humerus during the front raise, yet this usually seems kept to that first 90 degrees of motion. I understand there's some kind of rotation that goes on when the arms are overhead and I am wondering how things may change in that case, like if th...

The swiss ball does have some uses, like extending the range of motion during a crunch, or allowing interesting moves line supine bridging leg curls, or doing rolling pikes. Allowing some instability is clearly beneficial though, otherwise we'd do nothing but machine movements and not use freeweight...

I think the difference is that you literally rest, rather than jog like you do with HIIT. So it's sprinting done in the format of weight lifting. You sprint for whatever distance. Then you rest for 2 or 3 minuted and sprint back. I don't know if it's better, but it is different. It's probably not t...

It's odd how people are worried about getting too big, because even if you did somehow accidentally become Ronnie Coleman, turning back to normal would be incredibly easy since all you would need to do is reduce your calorie intake, or maybe eat less protein so the muscles catabolize their own tissu...

Stephen, swinging the body has been proven to be a whole other workout and isn't necessarily a bad thing. It works more power. Swinging the body wont get you size but it will get you explosive power. Kipping pull ups allow people to pull up faster, so it is in a sense more explosive body power, but...

Are they good construction, do the handles stay on? One thing I make sure is that it's solid cast, you never know when to save expense they might separately cast the ball and handles and just weld them together.

Can you really do farmers' walks with this thing? It looks like the bars jutting out for loading the plates are in front of the lifting handles so wouldn't it tilt forward? Wouldn't you be dragging a bit during the farmer's walk? I guess that's still fine mush like training with loaded wheelbarrows ...

That was an interesting read. It certainly seems more stable than just padding the bar with foam or a towel. Pretty confusing how most pictures were of the manta ray on the back squat though.

In/De-clination (supi/pro-ne) & deltoid raise/fly moveme

http://www.exrx.net/AnimatedEx/DeltoidAnterior/DBAlternInclineFrontRaise.gif This movement gets called an incline raise (above the head is behind the hips), looking to put a greater stretch on the deltoid muscle and it maxes out in difficulty parallel to ground at a greater length. Although I can't...

Thomas Test

http://www.exrx.net/Testing/FlexFunction/ThomasTest.html It talks about false positives on this test and how to avoid them. It mentions the lower back should touch, so basically this means removing the arch right? By rounding the spine like this, what we are doing is posteriorly rotating our pelvis,...

Hm, well it might be the shoulder rotating or something... try keeping a slight bend in your elbow so you can be aware of the direction your elbow is facing, if it rotates during the movement it might indicate where.

Situps: Decline or Incline

http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/RectusAbdominis/WtInclineSitUpX.html http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/HipFlexors/WtDeclineSitup.html Could someone writing articles for exrx help to clarify the difference in terminology here? So far as I can tell, incline/decline is judged more upon the angle ...
