Re: Box squat vs. conventional squat

"Pausing on the box will develop strength out of the hole. There is no momentum in coming off the box. It is pure strength." I hear this all the time and it's very annoying. Momentum is not what helps people get out of the hole when they don't pause. It's elastic energy stored in the tissues and th...

Re: SHOULDER PRESS

The traps, lats and pecs all antagonize the deltoids. I understand why you say lats/pecs since they're adductors and delts are abductors... but the traps help to rotate the scapulae up and help with pressing. I don't see how they could be delt antagonists, they don't even cross the same joints. Tra...

Re: Lying Rear Delt Apparati - Where does one find these thi

Probably the upper traps which would be competing with the rear delts. I don't well understand how these would compete, wouldn't they work together? Like you can't really do the job with one or the other. With just the traps, the scaps would go up and maybe rotate a little but the arms wouldn't com...

I should probably do that, I have a bar 6ft away from my comp, really no excuses for avoiding them.

Re: Lever Seated Reverse Fly Variations, recently pink-modif

Do plenty of rowing, don't use a wide grip on chins and pulldowns, add some rear delt rows, and maybe even a set of bent over laterals. What do you think of Scooby's video on his reverse flies (bent laterals are same I'm guessing) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFSpTUQunLE" onclick="window.open(thi...

Re: Lying Rear Delt Apparati - Where does one find these thi

Actually didn't notice that at first... it looks like you'd be able to pull the barbell off from there in spite of it being in front of the shoulders, but setting a bar back down looks tricky, like you'd have to kind of swing a bit of pendulum-like to get it over top of there. One thing that kind of...

Lying Rear Delt Apparati - Where does one find these things?

So I was reading http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidPosterior/DBLyingRearDeltRow.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; again and noticed a link to a picture that I did not notice before: http://www.exrx.net/AnimatedEx/DeltoidPosterior/DBLyingRearDeltRow2.gif Compared to lying o...

Seated Military Press: Is this an oxymoron?

I noticed http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidAnterior/BBSeatedMilitaryPress.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but I thought a military press had to be done standing and the knees locked with heels together and feet angled 90 degrees apart (45 degrees external rotation each leg)...

Re: Do push ups work your lats?

Were you doing very deep push ups? I think the lats become involved if you go very deep and the arm goes into hyper extension (elbow behind shoulder) because the lat doesn't hyperextend since it's shortest with elbow at side, so going behind the body would actually stretch the lat and I think at tha...

Re: T push-up minus the push-up?

I wonder what we should call these, T-ups? It seems like if you had a single dumbbell it'd be a good way to get in rear delt work while using it in a closed chain fashion on base arm. How heavy a dumbbell can someone raise strictly this way?

Re: Has anyone ever seen a double bodyweight inverted shrug?

There has to be a strong enough shrugger on the ExRx General to make a video of this movement and submit it here! Nope, but it sounds painful. I think I would use the machine where you can stay right side up. That doesn't sound functional bro. Inverted shrugs with another man sitting on your glutes ...
