Your arms'll take a hammering when pulling and pressing anyway, so when you come to do the direct arm stuff the day after on yo...

bent press

i just can't get the hang of this exercise, it feels like I'm not flexible enough. I'm trying it with a light dumbell but I don't really understand what's going on, and i can't seem to lift the weight without pressing with my arm. I've watched a bunch of videos of it but i just can't get my head rou...

I'm with stephen on this, sometimes if muscles are just a bit sore a good warm up can get rid of the pain. If they really hurt then just be a bit more gentle.

as i understand it: no. Training big muscles like your legs makes your body release more anabolic hormones, which'll make ALL your mucles bigger. Training with compound movements (movements that use a load of different muscles at once) releases more of these hormones too, so compound movements are b...

personally I see the biggest chest development when i use a decline, and i usually have it pretty steep.

But different horses for different courses as they say, what works for me won't obviously work for everyone.

if you go on to a website called T-nation and find a series of articles called something like "Fix your neanderthal posture", there's some really good exercises there for fixing pretty much everything you've described. I know because practically everything that can be wrong with my posture; is. So d...

hmm so it's basically a jump... and a shrug!

Cheers for the links guys.

some good advice there guys, thanks. Cheers also Jungledoc for those articles, I'll check those out. I think the shoulder flexibility is going to be an issue, especially the behind the neck push press. My shoulders are supple as a brick but you reckon those overhead squats'll sort that out? Also I j...

aye i think what I'll try is rack pulls, building up to a romanian deadlift, then once I've done that for a bit I'll go for the regular deadlift.

the deadlift's the bane of my weightlifting existence, but I'll get it licked one day. Mark my words.
