building up to olympic lifts

olympic lifts are something I've aspired to do for a while now, particularly the snatch. I'm laid up with an injury the now, but am champing at the bit to get back to work. My question is: what should i work on prior to doing the snatch, i mean obviously the best way to do it is just to do it, but i...

peter you diamond, that's exactly the exercise I've been looking for!

my deadlift totally sucks due to my awful mobility and even worse posterior chain. I've been trying romanian deadlifs but been struggling with those too.

rack pulls! Yeeha!

if there's something KPj doesn't know about posture, it's not worth knowing!

right ok, hold it a bit lower down, gotcha. I had a gander at a bench pressing article on t-nation which was pretty good, think it's called Bench 600 Pounds or something similar. It was pretty helpful and showed a video of how it should be done but the angle it was shot at meant i wasn't too sure ho...

some wicked articles there from KPj, I checked out that neanderthal no more article and pretty much everything that can be wrong with my posture, is. Oh dear.

I have a question on the PL style bench, how do you adjust your arms so that the elbows aren't flared, do you grip it a little narrower?

ah-ha! Now this is advice I can use, referring back to my shoulder pain post (i still don't know how to post links...) of a few days ago i think switching to the powerlifter style after my shoulder's stopped hurting could be the way forward. it's a bit frustrating in that i want to try it NOW, but I...

so are tall gangly types like me better for deadlifting?

I always assumed squat, stocky types had it easier.

stupid shoulder. I'll try a week off, then next week I'll try pressing with dumbells instead of a bar. I'll also drop overhead pressing, even though it's my favourite lift. If it keeps hurting then i reckon i'll be after a referell to that physio you mentioned KPj.

stupid shoulder.

hopefully it's not armpit cancer! The pain when rowing is pretty much constant but is most significant just after the pre-stretch when my shoulder blades come back. When benching it hurts when the bar comes right down to my chest. Overhead pressing hurts pretty much the whole time but especially at ...

shoulder pain

Hi guys, I've started a fairly hardcore upper back strengthening regime to try and correct my quasimodo shoulders. It's basically involved minimal pressing -bench, overhead- and loads of shoulder blade/ upper back work; pulldowns, pullups, reverse flyes and loads of rows etc. Now i don't know for su...

I'm working on sorting my pelvic tilt right now, the advice I was given was stretch my hip flexors and make sure I'm pushing my feet and knees out to the side when squatting to get the weak part of my glutes working. I've also been told not stretch my hamstrings because the tilt's stretching them an...

if the 1g of protein per lb of podyweight holds true, i can't see how anyone could possibly get near it without a supplement. I consider myself to eat a lot, and eat pretty well but I'd be looking at 150g of protein daily, that's like 25 eggs a day! I mean obviously you would never try it with eggs ...
