I know that a post-workout shake allows your body to absorb carbs and protein more readily since there's a glycogen deficiency and your muscles are torn and need repair, but what exactly the is purpose of a pre-workout shake?

Yes, fruits and vegetables do contain carbs, but significantly not as much as eating something that is usually pure carb. In that sense, my stomach feels too full to eat after eating all my protein/veggies/fruits. I don't even need to reassess my caloric intake for the past few days; I know for a fa...

Trouble eating BIG

So I've finally gotten to the point where my protein intake is finally a bit more than my bodyweight in grams, but with all that protein and fruits/vegetables ingested, I don't have much room for carbs: thus, I don't think I'm meeting my daily caloric quota to bulk. Just want to hear some of the stu...

Alright, some stats: age: 19 height: 5'3" weight: 125 lbs build: pretty ectomorphic From what I've calculated, my BMR is 1514 calories; on a lifting day (of overall moderate intensity) I'll need around 2400 calories. Bulking on low-carb diet

How hard is it to bulk on a low-carb diet? Would I be better off taking in more carbs to meet my caloric surplus?

I've only been doing my current hypertrophy program for about 12 weeks, and like you said, that's not enough time to see significant progress. And to compound that fact, I am short, skinny, and possess an ectomorphic body build. It is generally hard for me to see any sort of 'progress' no matter wha...

Exactly how would you define a good "foundation of strength"? I'm currently training for hypertrophy, but I'm not sure whether I've established a good foundation yet.

I can keep my back arched when squatting, going several inches under parallel. I've seen people able to go further, with their back in arched form, but I sense a slight arch in my back when I attempt to try. Is there any way to develop keeping an arched back while going deeper?

You sure it wasn't due to some other exercise before or after pullups?

If you are sure it was pullups, were you doing them explosively? Maybe you pulled something, or your grip was too wide or narrow, and you went to failure on an exercise you haven't fully adapted to.
