While I agree that for body builders creatine may be a necessity, I would guess that 'charlie' isn't looking to just build size. Assuming he's looking to lift for fun/to get stronger/for fitness then I think whey protein is the way (no pun intended) to go.

News: Dunked basketball on 9'6"! Getting close! Dunked small soccer ball (can palm it) on 10', I think I may be able to dunk the basketball if I can train my hand to hold the ball. Very happy that my few days off did not make a difference in my squatting ability. Also, my old high school's weight ro...

Thanks Ryan, yeah I wouldn't want to do jump squats with ~250 on my back. But I think you're right that chain training for squats would be very helpful for jumping, in addition to increasing my ability to squat.

Three more you should consider:
Supine rows for back
Locking hands and pulling apart for back
Clasping hands and pushing inward for chest

I don't know about biceps, find something you can curl I guess. Or lots of supinated pull-ups.

I can't offer an opinion on the protein, sorry.

Lifting with chains

I've been reading a lot about lifting with chains lately and am considering it, but I wanted to get some input from the forum. Thanks. Some of the links I've been reading: One. And another. There's others out there that I read, but have forgotten the location of, a google search would probably turn ...

Today I went to the track and did an interval training / plyo workout. I did some sprints, only 1 up to 100 meters and several shorter. I did 2 sets of 3 hurdle jumps, the first set with two hurdles and the second with three hurdles. and I ran the bleachers at my high schools field, 10 times turning...

Yeah, I guess while it first seemed ridiculous to me, it may not be. Ok I retract my assertion that bw exercises couldn't build extreme strength. But I still assert that the best way to develop strength in a certain exercise is to perform that exercise. Bench pressing for bench press or whatever.

I'm not inclined to believe what bobby said, the ratio of what I can bench to what I weigh is about 1.35:1 (255:190), I can't see someone who only does pushups walking up to a bench and managing 1.34 times their bodyweight right off the bat. The best way to get good at ______ (insert exercise here) ...

I posted something from somewhere before that said that growth hormone rises to 1800% of its normal level if you weight train before doing cardio (as opposed to 500% with cardio then lifting), I'm not sure it applies to HIIT, but I would put them on the same day so long as you can fully complete you...

Quick note about my push press today, my third set was probably best, because though I was aiming for 8r, in my first set I dropped the weight too far forward, and had to stop at 7, and in the middle set I just didn't have it. For the final set I picked it up, and improved my form, I was able to do ...
