When the Pope visited Yankee Stadium last year, he said something like the sexual abuse of children has to stop. Mild applause. Then he said something against abortion, and there was rapturous applause. Hmmm... The Church blew it, pretty much condoning pedophilia; that's where I get off the boat. An...

Beer

Only German beer doesn't give me a whopping headache. I ascribe it to the Reinheitsgebot of 1516, which states that only three ingredients can go into beer: malt, hops, water. So, I drink German beer only.

I played tackle football in school. Wrestled. Weight-lifting. If not, I would have gone home, eaten junk food, and watched reruns of "Gilligan's Island." So sports in a way helped me with social skills -- in short, you're around people, not alone. I saw a guy with tattoos all over his face. He saw m...

I read this somewhere (meaning that I don't know if it's true or not, or understand it, or even care), that Reagan was the biggest socialist of them all, by "redistributing the wealth" (in this case, five trillion dollars) to the wealthiest one percent of all Americans. The new book "The Man Who Sol...

What's worse than bad breath. Bring floss to work, and don't eat onion bagels.

If you leave the house with shoes that really need a shine, you're not a metrosexual. Funny, I live in New York, and the metrosexuals aren't exactly coming out of the woodwork. It's just some "Entertainment Tonight" / "People" magazine term used to drum up business. But I did get a pedicure once, be...

When people start talking to me when I'm lifting, I finish the lift, and say in a not-welcoming tone, "Do you want something?" and then walk away. It's also good to master "the stare" -- usually they'll get the message and go away. They should know it's dangerous to distract someone who's weight lif...

I think I saw "chins from a tree branch," but also try throwing and/or picking up heavy things outside (rocks, cars, garbage trucks...), or tossing a caber.

And then there are people who avoid protein, thinking it makes you fat. A lot of skinny women in my office ... or should I say unhealthy? They snack all day, but jeez, look at that guy eating protein, yuck. Re the gov't: Aspartame is everywhere now. They figured out how to put it into foods by diffe...

I'm going to ramble on for a bit here. The waitress finally brings your hamburger and fries. What's the first thing you reach for? Probably a french fry. I think the human race is hardwired to do things ass backwards; or, Why does junk food taste so good? Because it's junk. But somebody had to inven...

Scones are more popular than crumpets in the U.S. But they're not as good as the scones you get in Scotland.

I think I read somewhere that the iron from a frying pan can't be absorbed by the body. Anyway, my Wagner pan is still going strong (my grandmother handed it down to me). Go online to find out the directions for its care and it'll give you yeoman's service.

Very important in the long development of man and the brain to have that animal protein --- we wouldn't be who we are without meat. But I love the vegetarians who spout off on every subject known to man like they're experts (in between puffs of an organic cigarette). You know the ones. And what's th...

My wife's a Red Sox fan, so that means that I'm a Red Sox fan. Who still may do something. I've written off the Mets for this year.
