As for the BOSU thing, maybe it's good for sit-ups?

New to the Kettlebell
I like my new kettlebell, but it's not going to supplant weight training. So far, the cardio KB training suits me best (swinging it between your legs, whatever that motion is called). So I'd recommend getting a KB or two -- just make sure you get a heavy one. I mean, pressing a 30-lb. KB over my hea...

I just started adding some body-weight exercises (dips, push-ups [remember them?]) into my work-outs. But I have weight-lifting in my blood--since I was 8!--and I will never give it up. So there's got to be a happy medium somewhere. I also just ordered a kettlebell plus the DVD, so let's see how tha...

Do you use the Smith machine when you're bench pressing? For safety's sake I'd recommend it, or, just use very light dumbbells until your back gets better. As for diet, seeing a professional can't hurt. I went once, and it opened my eyes to a few things. But my first rule is this: just don't eat jun...

I can't add much to the above messages. In my late forties now (how'd that happen?) and I have to say, warming up is very important now. So for shoulders, I start by pressing 35-lb. dumbbells, then 45 lbs., then 55, 65, 75, 85, and usually I get up to 95 lbs. for a rep or two. (Then I follow this wi...

I have found out that morning workouts are the way to go, if you're tired after work. I wake up an hour early and eat some yogurt and work out for 40 minutes. The gym is empty, so there's no waiting or distractions. I do this 4--5 times a week. I think it's a myth that you can't "go heavy" too early...

Let me add another one to this thread. Why are so many children fat these days? In my day, there was usually one fat kid per class, and he got chosen last to be on your team in gym. Something weird's happening. I have a few friends with kids, and they're fat too, though the parents aren't. I can't f...

I heard that Stevia is the best fake sugar. It's actually in my "Healthy 'n Fit Nutritionals 100% Egg Protein" powder, from the Vitamin Shoppe. (I'm through with GNC.) Diet sodas? Save your money for something important, or a rainy day. I drink 8 ounces of fresh orange juice a day and the rest is wa...
