Food for insulin spike
One simple question. What food cause insulin spike? I searched for some post workout meals and I came across insulin spike. While I got the idea behind this I still dont know what to eat to cause one. First I thought I would eat some fruit like banana, but then I read one of stu's post where he says that fructose doesnt spike insulin. I'm kinda confused now.

Re: Food for insulin spike
all food spikes insulin to some degree.
carbs spike insulin higher than other macronutrients. If you buy in to the whole idea that you need a big insulin spike post-workout then some fast acting carbs, ie sugar, would be what you want.
dextrose, maltodextrin, vitargo etc are all popular choices. While fructose doesn't cause as much of an insulin spike as other sugars, most (all?) fruits contain dextrose as well as fructose so you can use fruit if you want.
if you do decide to use things like vitargo or maltodextrin then you can just add them to a protein shake for convenience

Thanks for explanation Bob. I'll stick with bananas, supplement are kinda expensive here, best I can get is grape sugar.

high GI carbs & simple sugars.

Ricki, don't drag up old posts. In all likelihood the person asking the question is long gone and it annoys the rest of us.
