I'm in the military. Not only do we get free gym membership, we get time off during work hours to work out. Mind you, we're also fitness tested annually.
I do occationally use local gyms and pay $5 drop in charges.

I pay [1 million dollars] a month, which is roughly $60 now i think. That gives me unlimited use of a gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam-room and jacuzzi.

Nice. I had a free gym membership when I was in the army- which of course I never used when I was in the army!

The cost is gonna depend on the city, country, and franchise. I got lucky, the gym I go to was just opening and offering some membership promotions. Such as "We don't open for a month but if you sign up now you can get a membership for $25 per month". They probably figured most would quit after 1 year, and sign up again the following January. A common amount with my co-workers seems to be around $50 a month.
Some gyms treat their membership sign up process like buying a used car, so you may have some wiggle room in that respect.

I pay a lot, but it's hard to break it down to "gym cost" since I'm paying for one-on-one or small-group (maybe 2 trainees, one coach) personal training at a specialized facility. That's kind of an apples/oranges comparison. It's way more than the other guys in this thread are paying.
I can always check the local gyms and see what they charge, if you're looking for something of an area survey of costs. Won't be cheap, I think, since NJ has a very high cost of living...

45 dollars for month to month. Unlimited use, has everything but a swimming pool.
(Could have paid 32 or 35 for a 12 month contract. Don't recomend that.)

99$ for 4 months (summer package deal for students). im also told that they will be running a winter special for 99$ for like 3-5 months i forget exactly what the manager at the gym told me. the nice part is I can freeze the account (which is helpful if you're home sporadically for 1-4 weeks every 1-2 months.

I was paying $15.00 per month, cancelled my membership because i got some equip. for the garage but signed up again a few months ago at $29.00 per month. My garage is too small now because my wife uses it for storage. Don't ask why i can't just move it somewhere else. Long story.

I don't do commercial gyms, but just my choice. The local Y is about 345 USD/yr, and the good gym over on Bonney Rd here at the Beach , complete with a platform and chalk, with PL and OL coaching goes for a base (with no one on one) fpr around 50 USD / month

Hmm...I had a gym for $10 a month plus a free of like $30 once a year...but...you had to sign a year contract to get it. I decided to not resign up...as I do not know where I will be next year. Smart move?
