Dangerous Exercises

Post by Oscar_Actuary » Wed Dec 19, 2012 7:25 pm

So, we have the CrossFit discussion going on and it got me wondering.

I did buy a Wall Ball and plan to do the Front Squat Wall Ball combo. And some Smashes as well. I presume aside from hitting my face with 16 lbs balls, this is good stuff?

But what are some dangerous CF movements, or others ? CF doesn't recommend the Sqats on a Bosu ball, do they?

Squats on a bosu ball only if you're playing a didgeridoo.
(old joke, can't find the picture)

My list of dangerous Crossfit exercises include ballistic pull ups and Olympic lifts till you can't stand up, but mostly it's the programming and attitude that's dangerous.

Edit: Found the video:

people often say that the ridiculously high volume of olympic lifts they do is dangerous because their technique goes to hell due to fatigue.

Meh. They use tiny little weights. Show me the bodies, I say.

I don't understand why crossfit gets as much hate as it does.

i read the whole training guide and it says that everybody only have the task to make as much reps as he can have a good form. i think these videos where everybody is so exhausted that he is close to death are just after a big circle of different exercises or after this freakin long chin up sessions.

any exercise in the gym can be dangerous when performed incorrectly  except of maybe biceps curls or so.
