Ok, my continental sucks, so this is a huge PR for me. This is the first time my continental has beaten my clean! I've actually taken some time to focus on it lately and am finally getting comfortable with it. Slipped down on the first attempt, got it on the second. Bodyweight is 245 after lunch with oly shoes on.

That's crazy! I've certainly never seen or even heard of a "continental"! Is this some strong man competition lift? I looks pretty hard. Do you switch your grips form lift to lift?Jason Nunn wrote:Ok, my continental sucks, so this is a huge PR for me. This is the first time my continental has beaten my clean! Yes, a continental is done with a 2" thick axle. On the axle, not only is the bar thick but it also doesn't revolve on the ends like an olympic bar would. Typically, the weights are also fixed in place with a pin so they don't revolve either. Like sometimes they just use wagon wheels. That's crazy! The reason for the grip change is that the bar is 2 inches thick and once the weight gets that heavy it is very hard to double overhand, so you must switch mid lift.

OK. I've never posted here before, because I still consider myself a newbie and basically go up on most lifts every 2 weeks, like clockwork.
I did finally hit a point, where it seemed like a big deal (to me). Which is doing working sets of 10 at 200# on the LifeFitness tricep press machine (it looks like a dip, but you sit in it).
I was at 90 when I started a year ago. 200 just seems ginormous. The whole machine finishes at 270. I'm probably close to 1RMing that although I doubt I can hold myself in for it (seat is kinda slanted over at 10 degrees and you can push back into it, to lift more than your body weight...but I'm only 165.)
P.s. I would normally be bouncing off the walls stoked. But I'm a little worried about the pec that I tweaked doing flies. The LF press is supposed to be triceps, but it is so diplike that I'm sure I'm recruiting chest to accomplish the lift. And all the articles I googled on pec tears say weighted dips are the worst. So not sure if I should just keep going at try to max the machine out or not (over time, with working sets)
