versus every other?

Wondered if we had any swimming gurus in here. Have a bunch of questions, but one weird one to start: what are the benefits or minuses of swimming with bilateral breathing (every 3rd stroke), versus every other?

I'm not a swimmer but it stands to reason that the longer the interval between breaths, the more time can be spent on work, so therefore, higher efficiencies and faster times. If you're not competing, don't worry about it. If you are, talk to your coach.
